ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University field hockey team opened Atlantic East Conference action on rainy and chilly Wednesday afternoon, falling to Marywood University 8-1.
The Pacers opened the scoring quickly as the put the ball in the back of the net in the first minute and netted three goals in the first quarter. Marywood would take a 5-0 lead at halftime.
Marywood tallied one goal in the third quarter.
The Knights spoiled the shutout bid by the Pacers at the start of the fourth quarter as
Rachel Koerner tipped in a shot from
Sam Picker.
The Pacers answered with two more goals en route to the 8-1 final.
Lizzie Yu started the game in net and made six saves.
Meg Frame made five saves over the second and fourth quarters.
Neumann (3-9, 0-1 Atlantic East) stays in conference action and will host Cabrini on Saturday as part of 2019 Homecoming Weekend. Action gets underway at 12:00 PM.
