ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University women's basketball picked up its first win of the young season by a 96-78 score over Penn State Brandywine on Thursday evening.
 
Shaylah Green led the Knights with 22 points. Lauren Leicht tallied five three-pointers for 19 points. Chelsea Keebler hit four three-pointers en route to 17 points. Terea Hunt notched a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds.
 
The Knights used three baskets from beyond the arc as they took a 16-9 lead midway through the first quarter. The Lions then went on a 9-0 run to take an 18-16 lead with just over a minute on the clock. A three-pointer by Leicht and two free-throws by Hunt put Neumann up 21-18 after the first 10 minutes.
 
Neumann built its lead throughout the second half, leading by as many as 14, 46-32, and took a 46-34 advantage into halftime.
 
The Knight's lead in the third quarter varied from eight points to 15 points. The Lions kept pace as both teams netted 21 points in the quarter and Neumann took a 12-point lead, 67-55, into the final 10 minutes.
 
The Lions pulled to with nine a few times over the final quarter. With a 78-69 score, the Knights went on a 12-2 run for a 90-71 score with just over two minutes remaining in regulation. Neumann used that run to seal its first win of the season 96-78.
 
Neumann (1-1) will remain at home and will host Penn State Abington next Tuesday. Action gets underway at 7:00 PM.
