ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University women's basketball team fell to Widener University on Tuesday evening 73-51 in non-conference action.
Terea Hunt led the Knights offensively and defensively netting a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds.
Chelsea Keebler and
Tierra Harris each followed with nine points, and
Kiara Stovall pitched in seven points.
The scoring started off slow as it took two and a half minutes for either team to get a basket. Hunt opened the scoring. The Pride scored its first point on a free throw over three minutes into the game and netted their first basket 30 seconds later. A three-pointer by Keebler put Neumann up 5-3 midway through the first quarter. Widener then netted the next seven points for an 11-5 advantage. The gap remained between two and five points and the Pride took an 18-13 lead after the first 10 minutes.
Widener began to pull away throughout the second quarter and went up by double-digits as halftime got closer. The Pride took a 39-27 lead at the break. Widener continued to build its lead during the second half and Neumann was unable to start a comeback, falling 73-51.
Neumann (3-3) will remain at home and will host Susquehanna next Tuesday evening beginning at 7:00 PM.
