ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University women's volleyball team is the No. 2 seed in the Atlantic East Conference postseason and will host No. 3 seeded Cabrini University on Thursday evening in a semifinal contest.
The Knights and Cavaliers met just over a week ago where Neumann came away with the 3-1 win to seal the No. 2 seed.
Melanie Malseed tallied 20 kills in the match.
Ariana Pena and
Jess Charlier each notched 15.
Rachel Cray handed out 54 assists. Malseed and
Bre Hickey led five Knights in double-digit digs with 16.
Hayley Glah and
Alex Koppany each added 13 and Cray had 11.
For the season, Neumann is led by senior Malseed. She has tallied 359 kills and 366 digs during the regular season. Pena is second on the team with 268 kills. Hickey has added 216 kills and 251 digs. Cray has handed out 883 assists and 44 service aces. Glah notched 341 digs and leads the team with 47 service aces.
In first round action, Cabrini defeated Wesley 3-1 while Marywood took a 3-1 win over Gwynedd Mercy. Marywood will head to No. 1 seeded Marymount in the other semifinal game. The winners on Thursday will meet on Saturday for the second Atlantic East Conference Championship.
