READING, Pa. - The Neumann University women's ice hockey team took home the Keystone Holiday Classic Championship on Saturday evening, downing Lebanon Valley College by a score of 2-1.

Katelyn Brown and Claudia Trionfo were the goal scorers for Neumann on the day, while goalie Helen Cooney made 18 saves in net.
 
Things did not start as planned for the Knights as Lebanon Valley opened the scoring under a minute into the first frame to take an early 1-0 advantage. Neumann would not panic though, fighting back almost right away with a goal at the 3:00 minute mark to level the contest. Trionfo got the equalizer for the Knights off a feed from Brown to make it 1-1. The remainder of the period would be an evenly plated affair, but Brown again put her stamp on the game with a goal at 15:37 to make it 2-1 in favor of the Knights heading to intermission.
 
Neumann did everything they could to widen their advantage in the second stanza, but could not put a puck past the Dutchmen goaltender. The Knights out-shot Lebanon Valley by a count of 22-2 but the score-line would remain the same heading to the third.
 
Still holding a narrow one-goal lead in the final frame, the Neumann defense continued to stymie the Lebanon Valley attack. The Dutchmen recorded just eight shots in the period and Cooney stopped them all to help clinch the narrow 2-1 victory and the tournament title.
 
Neumann (7-3-0) will now have a month off before getting back to action after the holiday break. The Knights will return to the ice on Friday, January 3rd versus Morrisville State College at 3:00 PM.
