Softball Suffers First Set-back

CLERMONT, Fla. – The Neumann University softball team suffered its first set back of the season on Thursday with two losses in Florida. The Knights fell to Alma College 14-2 in five innings in the first game. Neumann then dropped a 10-0 decision in five innings to the Milwaukee School of Engineering.
 
In the first game of the day, the Scots opened the contest with four runs in the top of the first inning. The Knights came to the plate in the bottom of the first and loaded the bases on a walk and two hits, but could not get a runner home for a run.
 
Alma added four more runs in the second, fourth and two in the fifth.
 
The Knights were able to spoil the shutout bid in the bottom of the fifth inning. Rachel Albertson led off with a double. She scored on a fielder's choice by Bri Lagroteria. Lagroteria came around to score on a double by Jackie Schneider.
 
Jen Sieminski pitched the game for Neumann.
 
In game two of the day, the Raiders scored eight runs in the second inning and added two insurance runs in the fifth inning.
 
Nicole Wisser started her first game as a Knight and the went first 1.2 innings. Taylor Naman pitched the final 3.1 innings. Schneider picked up a triple in the game.
 
Neumann (6-2) is right back on the field tomorrow and will face Capital and Eastern Nazarene in the final day of competition for the Knights.
