RYE, N.Y. - The Neumann University women's ice hockey team dropped its second game in as many days on Sunday afternoon, falling by a score of 5-1 to Manhattanville College in United Collegiate Hockey Conference (UCHC) action.

Jackie Schneider was the goal scorer on the afternoon for the Knights, while Helen Cooney made 40 saves in goal.

Manhattanville controlled play from the opening whistle on the afternoon. The Valiants tallied twice in the first frame to take an early 2-0 lead into the first intermission. Shots for the first period were 18-7 in favor of Manhattanville.

Neumann tried to get back into the game in the second stanza with seven more shots on goal, but the Knights could not break through. The hosts then added some insurance, tacking on two more goals in the period to take a commanding 4-0 lead into the third period.

Schneider gave the Knights some life with a goal 48 seconds into the third frame off assists from Katelyn Brown and Angeline Taiariol, but that was as close as Neumann would get. The Valiants answered back with a fifth goal at the 3:27 mark of the period to seal the 5-1 win.

Neumann (5-15-0, 4-9-0 UCHC) will look to get back in the win column next week with three huge UCHC contests. The Knights will head to Chatham University for a game on Wednesday, February 6th before a huge weekend home and home series with Stevenson University that could define the team's playoff fate. The Knights will play host to the Mustangs on Friday, February 8th at 7:00 PM.
