Baseball Edged by Penn State Abington

LAKELAND, Fla. – The Neumann University baseball team fell late to Penn State Abington on Saturday, 11-10.
 
Tyler Ramos had three hits and three RBI for the Knights. John Lindeborn hit a two-run homerun.
 
Josh Cruz started the game and went 5.2 innings. He allowed three runs on four hits and struck out six. John Schoelkopf took the loss in relief, going 1.2 innings and allowing five runs on four hits. Danny Padilla wrapped up the eighth inning and allowed three runs on four hits.
 
Neumann got on the board with two runs in the second inning. Zach Ray singled to lead off the inning, followed by a double by Andrew La Rosa. Ramos knocked in Ray. La Rosa scored on a sacrifice fly by Ramos. The Knights added a run in the fifth as Ray singled and scored on a single by Ramos.
 
Lindeborn hit his homerun in the fifth inning. Schoelkopf hit a two-run double in the sixth inning to put the Knights up 7-0.
 
The Lions started to chip into the lead with three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning and one in the seventh. Penn State made its move in the eighth inning as it sent 11 batter to the plate and scored seven runs to take an 11-7 lead.
 
The Knights made some noise in the top of the ninth. Padilla reached on a walk to lead off the inning. With one out, Joe Murray singled. Ramos the doubled to knock in Padilla. Murray scored as Andrew Fowler reached on an error. Anthony Basciano pinch ran for Ramos and scored on a fielders' choice by Joe Nepi. Neumann had the tying run on baes, but could not get the runner around to home and fell 11-10.
 
Neumann (4-6) will wrap up spring break action tomorrow as it faces Clark University beginning at 9:00 AM.
