Softball Splits Non-Conference Contests with Ospreys

ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University softball team split a pair of non-conference contests with Stockton University on a cold and windy Saturday afternoon. The Ospreys won the first game 12-7. The Knights came back for an 8-6 win in game two.
 
Stockton jumped out early in game one with four runs in the first inning. The Ospreys scored two more runs in the second and four more in the third for a 10-0 lead.
 
In the bottom of the third, Neumann got on the board with three runs. The Knights then plated four runs in the fifth inning on back-to-back two-run hits by Jackie Schneider and Kate Korte'.
 
The Ospreys rounded out the scoring with two runs in the fifth inning and the 12-7 score.
 
Jen Sieminski started the game and went the first three inning. Taylor Naman pitched the final four innings.
 
In game two, the Knights scored early with three runs in the first inning. Jackie Selby led off with a double and scored on a single by Bri Lagroteria. Schneider traded places on the bases with Lagroteria and scored on a double by Korte'. Korte' came around to score on a single by Vanessa Bowen.
 
The teams then traded a pair of runs in the third inning for a 5-2 game.
 
The Knights added three more runs in the fourth inning. With one out, Grace Sperrazza doubled and scored on a triple by Schneider. Korte' knocked in Schneider and scored on a double by Bowen.
 
The Ospreys scored four runs in the fifth inning for a two-run game, 8-6. In the top of the seventh, Stockton put the first two runners on base, but the Knights were able to get three outs without another Osprey crossing the plate.
 
Nicole Wisser pitched the complete game for the win. She went 6.0 innings and allowed six runs on six hits and struck out six while walking just one.
 
Neumann (11-5) will host Rowan on Wednesday in a non-conference doubleheader. Action is slated to get underway at 3:00 PM.
