The Neumann University Men's Rugby Club headed to PSU BERKS on Saturday, March 23 to participate in the first round of the Mid-Atlantic Rugby Conference (MARC) Sevens series. With preseason practice limit weather, there was concern with game readiness. Neumann showed little rust blasting to a 39-0 romp over a combined squad.
AJ DelleMonache opened the scoring two minutes in enroute to a six try 32-point day.
Nick Fallows picked up two trys in the match and would also finish the day with a total of six trys and 30 points.
Liam Ruddy and
Sean Spence also tallied trys for the club and
Connor Gilden connected for a conversion.
Neumann dropped their second match, 29-10, to perennial powerhouse Susquehanna and eventual tournament winners. DelleMonache and Fallows each touched down trys.
The Knights scored a 20-14 victory over a stubborn Ursinus squad to finish 2-1 in pool play. DelleMonache added two trys with Fallows and rookie
Antonio Vaccaro each scoring a try. Unfortunately, the team missed out on a playoff spot by point differential. In their final match of the day, Neumann fell short to Holy Family, 17-12, running out of time deep in their opponent's end of the field.
