IMMACULATA, Pa. – The Neumann University softball team split a pair of Atlantic East Conference games at Immaculata University on Saturday afternoon. The Mighty Macs won the first game 3-2 in walk off fashion. The Knights took the nightcap 6-1.
In game one, the Mighty Macs took a 2-0 lead in the fourth inning on two solo back-to-back homeruns. With one out in the top of the seventh,
Jackie Schneider hit a two-run shot to tie the game at two. Immaculata won the game on a bases loaded walk in the bottom of the seventh.
Jen Sieminski went 6.2 innings in the circle. She allowed three runs on seven hits and struck out four.
In game two, the bats came alive as Neumann tallied 12 hits in the game.
Nicole Wisser picked up the win, going 7.0 innings in the circle. She allowed one run on six hits and struck out four.
After four scoreless innings to start the game, the Knights plated three runs in the fifth inning.
Bri Lagroteria led off with a single and moved around to third base. With two outs, Lagroteria scored on a single by
Kate Korte'.
Jackie Selby then doubled and
Emily Reid, who pinch ran for Korte', moved to third. Schneider walked to load the bases.
Kristina Del Gaiso singled to score Reid and Selby.
The Mighty Macs got one run back in the sixth inning.
The Knights added three insurance runs in the top of the seventh. Schneider and Del Gaiso hit back-to-back RBI singles.
Grace Sperrazza followed a two batters later with an RBI single.
Neumann (20-12, 5-1 Atlantic East) will continue conference action as it heads to Marywood on Thursday. The doubleheader is slated to begin at 1:00 PM.
