ST. DAVIDS, Pa. - The Neumann University women's soccer team lost in non-conference action on Saturday afternoon, falling by a score of 6-1 at Eastern University.
Belle Hughes scored for the Knights in the loss, while goalie
Payton Clements made 9 saves.
Eastern took the play to Neumann early, outshooting the Knights 11-1 in the opening frame. The Eagles notched the game's first two goals three minutes apart midway through the half to take a 2-0 lead before Hughes scored off a feed from
Anna Attardi to make it 2-1. The visitors' momentum would not last long though, as Eastern responded back with another goal just a minute later to take a 3-1 lead into halftime.
Neumann generated more scoring opportunities in the second half, but could not solve the Eastern defense. The Eagles continued to roll offensively, scoring twice in the first 15 minutes after the break to go up by a score of 5-1. The hosts then capped off the afternoon with a goal with just five minutes left to play to seal the 6-1 non-conference victory.
Neumann (3-4-1) finally returns home after a six-game road trip for another non-conference game versus Rutgers University - Camden on Wednesday, September 25th. Game-time is scheduled for 7:00 PM.
