ASTON, Pa. - The Neumann University men's soccer team fell in non-conference action on Saturday afternoon to visiting Lebanon Valley College by a score of 1-0.
Seth Walker made six saves in goal for the Knights in the loss.
It was a tale of two halves on the day for Neumann. The hosts started the game strongly and carried the play for a majority of the opening half. The Knights outshot Lebanon Valley by a count of 7-2 in the frame, but could not find the back of the net as the game headed to halftime level at 0-0.
Brady Simon and
Matt Sengphachanh each had quality shots late in the half, but the Dutchmen keeper made a few diving saves to keep the game scoreless.
The game script flipped almost immediately into the second half. Lebanon Valley struck the post 30 seconds into the stanza, then found the game's first goal four minutes later as a shot from distance beat an outstretched Walker to make it 1-0 in favor of the visitors. The Dutchmen continued to press in the Neumann end, dominating the period with 16 shots compared to just two for the Knights. A few big saves from Walker kept the hosts in the game, but the team could not find an equalizer as the game finished 1-0.
Neumann (2-6-1) will hit the road for its next match next Wednesday, October 2nd at Penn State Abington. Game-time is scheduled for 4:00 PM.
