ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University field hockey team shutout Bryn Athyn College 7-0 on Saturday afternoon in non-conference action.
Bri Lagrotria scored three goals for the Knights.
Sam Picker added a pair.
Rachel Koerner tallied three assists.
Nicole Turner added a goal and an assist.
Meg Frame, in her first collegiate start in net, and the defense stood tall and did not allow a shot on net.
Picker opened the game with a goal in the 11
th minute as she scored off her own rebound. Turner found the net just over a minute later, off an assist from Koerner.
Julia Lee made her way on the scoresheet 30 seconds later for a 3-0 lead after the first quarter.
As time was ticking towards halftime, Lagroteria scored twice in the final two and a half minutes, both times off assists from Koerner. Neumann took the 5-0 lead into the break.
Lagroteria netted her third goal of the afternoon, off an assist from
Erica D'Mello, in the 39
th minute. Picker rounded out the scoring in the final minute of play.
Neumann (2-1) will head to Notre Dame (Md.) on Wednesday for a non-conference contest beginning at 4:00 PM.
