ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University women's basketball team fell to Marywood University 64-47 on Wednesday evening in an Atlantic East Conference contest.
 
Jaylin Ortiz led the Knights with 15 points and nine rebounds. Terea Hunt added nine points and five steals.
 
Points were scarce over the first half and the teams featured four lead changes and five tied scores. The teams went into the break knotted at 20.
 
The Pacers sank the first basket of the third quarter and would not relinquish the lead again. A three-pointer by Chelsea Keebler pulled the Knights to within two, 27-25, midway through the third quarter. Marywood then went on a 10-0 run for a 37-25 advantage. Neumann ended the half on a 10-2 run for a 39-35 score heading into the final 10 minutes.
 
Over the first three minutes of the fourth quarter, Marywood went on an 11-2 run to increase its lead to 50-37. That run proved to be enough and the Pacers kept their double-digit lead and to come away with the win.
 
Neumann (5-14, 1-5 Atlantic East) will start round two of Atlantic East action when it travels to Cabrini on Saturday afternoon. Tip-off is slated for 1:00 PM.
