IMMACULATA, Pa. – The Neumann University women's basketball team fell after a late run by Immaculata University, 71-63, on Wednesday evening in Atlantic East Conference action.
Terea Hunt led the Knights with 20 points.
Lauren Leicht tallied 13 points.
Jaylin Ortiz added nine rebounds and seven points.
Over the first 10 minutes, the teams changed the lead four times while having a tied score three times. With 1:31 on the clock, two free throws by Leicht put Neumann up 20-14. Immaculata netted the final four points for a 20-18 score after 10 minutes.
With four minutes remaining before halftime, the teams again were tied, this time at 29. The Knights finished the half on an 8-2 run for a 37-31 lead at the break.
Midway through the third quarter, once again the teams were tied, 44-all. The Mighty Macs ended the quarter scoring 10 of the 16 points for a four-point lead heading into the final 10 minutes.
After trading baskets to start the fourth quarter, the Mighty Macs went on an 11-2 run for a 67-55 lead. That run proved to be the difference as time ran out for a comeback and Neumann fell 71-63.
Neumann (6-17, 2-8 Atlantic East) will return home for its final home contest of the regular season on Saturday. The Knights will host Gwynedd Mercy, beginning at 1:00 PM.
