Men's Hockey Heads to Stevenson for UCHC First Round Matchup

2/25/2020 3:07:00 PM

ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University men's ice hockey team will travel south to Stevenson University for a first round United Collegiate Hockey Conference (UCHC) playoff contest tomorrow evening.

The Knights return to the UCHC playoffs after missing out last season, entering this year's postseason as the sixth seed in the conference. Neumann finished the regular season conference schedule with a record of 8-10 (9-16 overall) and will look to advance to the conference semifinals for the second time in three years after doing so in the 2017-18 season.

The team has received balanced scoring throughout its lines this year, with four players eclipsing the 20- point mark. Junior forward Barry Kneedler leads the team in both goals (16) and points (25), while junior defenseman Richie Brusco tops the team in assists with 19. Zac Boyle (24 points) and Tommy Dougherty (20 points) have also recorded 20 points on the season for the Knights, while Dan Cangelosi is second on the team with 11 goals.

Neumann has received solid goaltending this year from the duo of Kyle Pantalone and Tyler Roy. Pantalone has earned the majority of the starts in goal, going 6-8 with a .903 save percentage and 3.85 goals against average. Roy has started five games in goal, registering a 2-3 record with a 0.872 save percentage and 3.68 goals against average.

To advance to the UCHC semifinals, the Knights will need to hope the third time is the charm versus Stevenson this season. Neumann has dropped both matchups versus the Mustangs this year, falling at home by a score of 6-1 on November 23rd and then on the road by a score of 6-3 on February 7th.

Puck-drop for Wednesday's contest in Maryland is scheduled for 7:00 PM.
