DOVER, Del. – The Neumann University women's basketball team picked up a 55-39 win at Wesley College on Wednesday evening in an Atlantic East Conference contest.
Terea Hunt led the Knights with 18 points, nine rebounds and six steals.
Jaylin Ortiz added nine points while
Lauren Leicht netted eight.
The teams remained even to start the game and the Wolverines took a 12-9 lead after the first 10 minutes. Wesley held the lead throughout the second quarter, leading by as many as seven. The Knights pulled to within two, 23-21, at the break.
Hunt scored the first basket of the second half to pull even at 23. The teams then went back and forth and were tied at 26 with 7:29 left in the quarter. The Knights went on a 7-0 run for a 33-26 advantage and built an 11-point lead, 41-30, heading into the final 10 minutes. Neumann continued to build its lead throughout the fourth quarter to get back in the win column and come away with the 55-39 victory.
Neumann (6-15, 2-6 Atlantic East) will return home on Saturday as it hosts Marymount in a conference match-up. Action is slated to get underway at 1:00 PM.
