ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University women's soccer team was edged by Cabrini University 2-0 on Saturday afternoon in an Atlantic East Conference contest.
Prior to the game, the Knights honored their six seniors:
Carissa Britton,
Lexi Concklin,
Emily Cooper,
Kaitlin Thomas,
Belle Hughes and
Jordan Karanian.
The teams played to a scoreless first half. The Cavaliers has four shots, three on net, which
Leona Macrina stopped. The Knight's defense stood tall and kept the ball to the outside for most of the half.
In the second half, Cabrini broke through in the 71
st minute as it headed a corner kick for a 1-0 lead. The Cavaliers took advantage of another corner in the 78
th minute and headed the ball into the net for a 2-0 score. Cabrini had 10 corner kicks in the second half.
Marissa Waters played the final 12 minutes in net for the Knights and made one save. Cooper had two shots for Neumann.
Neumann (5-7, 2-1 Atlantic East) heads to Immaculata on Wednesday afternoon to continue conference action. The game is slated to begin at 4:00 PM.
