GWYNEDD VALLEY, Pa. – The Neumann University field hockey team fell to Gwynedd Mercy University 2-0 on Saturday afternoon in an Atlantic East Conference first round match-up.
Megan Frame made 10 saves in net and had several sensational saves on the goal line. The defensive corner unit, including
Rachel Koerner,
Gianna Guido,
Lizzie Frame and
Lexi Stouffer, was impressive, holding the Griffins to two goals on 24 corners.
Stouffer also played exceptionally well in the middle and was instrumental in transitioning the ball from our circle to the midfielders.
Haley Craft was the anchor as she played with poise and smarts at the left back position.
The teams played to a scoreless first half. The Griffins broke through in the 35
th minute. Gwynedd Mercy added an insurance goal early in the fourth quarter in the 48
th minute.
Ronni Johnson had a shot on goal in the 50
th minute for a chance to cut the lead in half, but it didn't go.
Neumann finishes its season 3-15.
