ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University women's soccer team shutout Immaculata 2-0 on Monday evening in an Atlantic East Conference first round match-up.
Liz Purcell netted the first goal of the game in the 50
th minute as she got a cross from
Chloe Britton and put the ball in the back of the net. In the 57
th minute,
Riley Adinolfi scored her first collegiate goal. Adinolfi received a pass from
Belle Hughes and made her way around the Mighty Macs defender and sank the ball in the corner of the net.
Neumann outshot the Mighty Macs 14-10 overall and 7-3 on net.
Leona Macrina made three saves in net for the shutout.
The teams battled to a scoreless first half. Immaculata outshot Neumann 9-7 in the first half. The Knights took control in the second half and held the pace of play to take the win.
Neumann (7-9) will travel to Cabrini on Wednesday for semifinal action. The game is slated to get underway at 7:00 PM.
