MADISON, N.J. – The Neumann University women's basketball team fell to Drew University, 67-50, in the first game of the Rose City Classic on Friday evening.
 
Madison Stewart was the only Knight to hit double-digits, netting 13 points. Lauren Klieber added nine points and seven rebounds.
 
Drew opened the game on a 10-2 run and held the pace for most of the contest. The Rangers took a 12-6 lead after the first quarter. Drew scored the final nine points of the first half and had a 34-17 lead at the break.
 
The Knights chipped their way into the deficit in the third quarter, outscoring the Rangers 15-10, but Drew still had a 44-32 advantage after three quarters. A free throw by Madison with 7:39 on the clock pulled Neumann within single-digits, 46-37, but Drew answered with the next four points to get back into a double-digit lead. With two minutes left in regulation, the Rangers built their largest lead, 65-44. The Knights didn't give up, sinking their last four free throws, but time ran out to give Drew the 67-50 win.
 
Neumann (1-1) will face SUNY-Cortland in the consolation game tomorrow afternoon beginning at 1:00 PM.
