MADISON, N.J. – The Neumann University women's basketball team dropped the consolation game in the Rose City Classic 79-60 to SUNY-Cortland on Saturday afternoon.
Tierra Harris was named to the All-Tournament team. Harris scored 16 points in the afternoon's game.
Madison Stewart added 12 points. All 12 Knights that took the floor had at least one rebound, and 10 netted at least a point.
The Red Dragons scored the first 12 points of the game to take an early advantage. The Knights then netted the next eight points. Cortland went on the next run for seven points and a 19-8 score. Harris hit two layups and then connect on the final basket of the quarter, but the Red Dragons held a 22-14 lead at the first break.
Harris continued her scoring, pulling Neumann within six, 22-16, when Cortland again went on a seven-point run. Stewart broke the run with a three-pointer with 5:36 left before halftime. The Red Dragons took a 40-25 lead into the half.
Cortland continued to build its lead throughout the third quarter and held a 61-38 advantage heading into the final 10 minutes. The Knights had a 13-0 run during the fourth quarter but could not overcome the deficit and fell 79-60.
Neumann (1-2) returns home on Tuesday when it welcomes Wilkes. Tip-off is set for 7:00 PM.
