HAVERFORD, Pa. – The Neumann University women's basketball team pulled close late in the game, but it wasn't enough as it fell at Haverford College 57-48 on Thursday evening.
Chelsea Keebler was the only Knight to hit double-digits, netting 12 points on four three-pointers.
Tierra Harris netted eight points and eight rebounds.
Madison Stewart also scored eight points and grabbed seven rebounds.
The Fords took control in the first quarter and built a 17-4 lead. The Knights scored the final four points for a 17-8 score after the first 10 minutes. The teams went back in forth to start the second quarter. Haverford ended the half on a 9-2 run to take a 30-18 lead into the break.
The third quarter was evenly matched with each team scoring 14 points. Haverford took a 44-32 lead into the final 10 minutes.
The Knights opened the fourth quarter on an 11-3 run to pull within four, 47-43, with 5:25 on the clock. The Fords answered by scoring six of the next eight points to increase their lead to eight, 53-45, with just under three minutes remaining. Haverford went 4-for-4 down the stretch from the line to hold off another Neumann run and come away with the 57-48 win.
Neumann (2-3) returns home on Saturday to host Albright. Action is slated to get underway at 1:00 PM.
