ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University men's basketball team defeated Bryn Athyn College 94-71 in the home opener on Tuesday evening.
Jalen Vaughns led five Knights in double-figures with 24 points.
Kyson Rawls netted 23 points.
TJ Lewis tallied 12 points while
Tony James and
Tyler Norwood each scored 10. James also grabbed nine rebounds and Vaughns had eight boards.
Rawls scored the first two points of the game as Neumann opened up an early 8-0 lead. Bryn Athyn scored eight of the next 11 points for an 11-8 score four minutes into the game. Over the next five minutes, the Knights went on an 11-3 run to extend their lead to 22-11. The Lions pulled back to within five, but the Knights shooting got hot and lead by as many as 19 in the first half and took an 18-point lead, 44-26, into halftime.
The Knights had 16 players hit the court in the contest and built a lead as large as 34, 94-60, in the second half. The Lions ended the game scoring the final 11 points, but it wasn't enough.
Neumann (4-2) heads to Penn State Lehigh on Saturday for non-conference action beginning at 1:00 PM.
