ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University men's ice hockey team dropped a 9-5 decision to Wilkes University on Saturday afternoon in a United Collegiate Hockey Conference (UCHC) contest.
Wilkes scored just 1:17 into the game for an early lead. The Colonels took a 2-0 lead with a power play goal at the 12:15 mark.
Nick Martino netted his first collegiate goal just over two minutes later for a 2-1 game.
Tom McGuire and
Nate Dunning tallied the assists on the power play tally.
A minute into the second period,
Luke Croucher scored to tie the game at two. Martino and
Wyatt Wong drew the assists. Wilkes took the lead back, 3-2, at the 7:32 mark of the second. The Knights then scored three straight goals from Dunning,
Brady Mistler and
Barry Kneedler for a 5-3 lead. The Colonels capped the six goal second period for a 5-4 Neumann lead heading into the final 20 minutes.
Wilkes turned up the pressure in the third period and netted five goals, including two shorthanded and an empty net goal, for the 9-5 win.
Kyle Pantalone made 30 saves in net.
Neumann (0-4, 0-2 UCHC) heads to Arcadia next weekend for a UCHC contest beginning at 7:30 PM.
