ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University women's basketball team defeated Goucher College 68-52 on Friday evening in non-conference action.
Tierra Harris led the Knights with 13 points and nine rebounds.
Terea Hunt added 11 points. Ten different Knights scored at least two points in the game while 11 grabbed at least one rebound.
The teams traded baskets over most of the low scoring first quarter. Tied at eight, the Gophers netted three straight baskets for a 14-8 edge.
Dymond Collins hit a free throw before the end of the quarter for a 14-9 game after one.
Goucher built a 10-point advantage in the second quarter, 25-15. Neumann began to chip into the deficit and ended the quarter on a 10-2 run to pull within two, 27-25, heading into halftime.
Chelsea Keebler hit a three-pointer to open the third quarter and give the Knights a 28-27 edge. Tied at 32 with 7:39 on the clock, Neumann went on an 8-0 run. The Knights took a six-point lead, 43-37, into the fourth quarter.
The Knights scored the first six points of the final quarter to extend their lead to 49-37. A layup by Hunt with 4:15 on the clock gave Neumann its largest lead of 18, 60-42. The Knights didn't let up over the final four minutes and came away with the 68-52 win.
Neumann (5-5) is now off until after Christmas when it will participate in the MSU Holiday Tournament. The Knights will face Montclair State on Wednesday, December 29 at 5:00 PM.
