MONTCLAIR, N.J. – The Neumann University women's basketball team fell to host Montclair State University 67-40 on Wednesday evening in the first game of the MSU Holiday Tournament.
Terea Hunt was the lone Knight to hit double-digit with 12 points.
Tierra Harris grabbed a team-high eight rebounds.
Montclair scored the first two baskets of the game. Hunt put Neumann on the board with a jumper. The Red Hawks then scored nine of the next 11 points for a 13-4 lead with 3:52 left in the first quarter. Montclair hit two free throws just before the end of the quarter for a 17-8 lead at the first break.
With the Red Hawks doubling up the Knights 26-13 midway through the second quarter, Neumann ended the half on a 7-0 run to pull within six, 26-20, heading into the break.
Montclair opened the second half netting the first eight points. The Red Hawks built a 20-point lead, 47-27, after three quarters. Montclair cruised through the fourth quarter to come away with the 67-40 win.
Neumann (5-6) will face Misericordia in the consolation contest tomorrow beginning at 2:00 PM.
