ST. MARY'S CITY, Md. – The Neumann University women's basketball team picked up its first win of the season, defeating St. Mary's College of Maryland 74-52 on Saturday evening.
Terea Hunt led the Knights with 22 points.
Tierra Harris netted 11 points and grabbed eight rebounds.
Chelsea Keebler hit a trio of three-pointers for nine points.
After starting the game trading baskets, and a 6-6 game, the Knights went on a 10-4 run to take a 16-10 lead to end the quarter.
The Seahawks pulled to within three, 18-15, three minutes into the second quarter. The Knights answered with 11 straight points for a 29-15 advantage and took a 31-21 lead into halftime.
Neumann kept the pressure on in the third quarter and outscored St. Mary's 23-9, including netting the first nine points of the second half. The Knights used the buffer built over the first three quarters to come away with the 74-52 win.
Neumann (1-2) will host Southern Virginia on Monday evening beginning at 7:00 PM.
