ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University men's volleyball team defeated the University of Valley Forge 3-0 on Tuesday evening. Set scores were 25-7, 25-15 and 25-20.
Sean Dugan led the Knights with nine kills, three blocks and 10 digs.
Jules Maiorano tallied seven kills, handed out 22 assists and notched 12 digs.
Conner Kolek also had 12 digs and added four service aces.
The Knights scored 10 of the first 12 points of the match to jump out to an early lead. Neumann then netted nine of the final 11 points to take the first set 25-7.
Neumann scored the first five points of the second set. Valley Forge worked its way back to tie the score at six. The Knights answered with the next four points and extended their lead to 17-9. Neumann scored the final four points to take set two 25-15.
The Patriots were not going quietly and jumped out to a 9-6 lead in set three. Down by three, 13-10, the Knights scored the next seven for a 17-13 advantage. The teams battled back and forth down the stretch, but Neumann held on to take the third set 25-20 and the match 3-0.
Neumann (2-0) is right back on the court tomorrow evening when it travels to Cairn. Action is slated to begin at 7:00 PM.
