CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. – The Neumann University men's volleyball team wrapped up the 2021 spring season with a 3-0 win at Wilson College on Saturday afternoon. Set scores were 25-23, 25-13 and 25-18.
John Hoopes led the Knights with nine kills.
Conner Kolek tallied seven kills and 11 digs in his final match as a Knight.
Jules Maiorano handed out 28 assists and added nine digs.
The first set went back and forth with each team holding a lead. Tied at 22, a kill by Hoopes and a Phoenix attack error put the Knights at set point 24-22. Wilson had the next kill, but
Thomas McConnell sealed the first set win, 25-23, with a kill.
The teams traded points to start the second set as well. Down 9-8, the Knights rallied off 10 straight points, behind the service of Kolek, to take an 18-9 advantage. A kill by
Sean Dugan gave Neumann the 25-13 set two win.
Set three started the same as the others. Down 10-8, Neumann scored the next five points and 10 of 12 for an 18-12 edge. The Knights got to match point, 24-16, but the Phoenix scored the next two points before a service error gave Neumann the 25
th point and the 25-18 third set win and 3-0 match win.
Neumann finishes the spring with a 4-2 record.
