Women's Lacrosse Falls in Regular Season Finale at Marywood

SCRANTON, Pa. - The Neumann University women's lacrosse team closed out the regular season portion of its Atlantic East Conference schedule on Saturday evening, falling by a score of 17-6 to host Marywood University.

Brylin Adams carried the Knights offense on the day with four goals on the day. Lindsey Fagan and Jay Murray also scored for Neumann, who received 10 saves in net from Catriona Corrigan.

Marywood jumped all over the Knights from the opening draw, scoring just 53 seconds into the contest to take an early 1-0 lead. The Pacers added a second goal at the 22:13 mark before Fagan cut the lead to one four minutes later to make it 2-1. The hosts responded with three quick, unanswered goals in just 1:24 to widen their lead to 5-1, but Murray tried to keep the Knights in the game with a free-position goal at 15:23 to make it 5-2. That was as close as Neumann would get in the half though, as the Pacers recorded seven of the final eight scores in the period to take a commanding 12-3 lead at the halftime break. Adams was the third goal scorer for the Knights.

Marywood continued to extend its lead early in the second stanza. The Pacers tallied twice to start the period, building a 14-3 lead with 25:40 left to play. The Knights were able to fight back for three goals in the frame, all coming from Adams midway through the period, but that was all the offense the team could muster. The hosts were able to add three more markers to their score-line late in the game as the contest finished 17-6 in favor of the Pacers.

Neumann (3-4, 2-4 Atlantic East) will await results around the rest of the conference before learning its playoff fate. The Knights will be on the road for the first round of the playoffs next Saturday, April 24th at a location and time to be determined.
