DOVER, Del. – The Neumann University softball team dropped a pair of games at Wesley College on Friday afternoon in an Atlantic East Conference doubleheader. Game scores were 9-4 and 4-2.
Ashlynne Scardino started game one and went 4.2 innings. She allowed seven runs on 13 hits.
Janiece Robles went 1.1 innings and allowed a pair of runs on two hits.
Neumann got on the board in the first inning as
Kristen Pagliaro scored. The Wolverines scored four runs in the bottom of the second.
The Knights tied the game at four in the top of the third as they took advantage of a Wolverines error. Wesley took the lead right back in the bottom of the third. Neumann wasn't able to add any more runs and Wesley took game one 7-4.
In game two,
Jess Sarni went 5.1 innings and allowed four runs on 11 hits.
The Wolverines scored first, putting two runs on the board in the home half of the first.
Rachel Albertson scored on a single by
Elizabeth Shire in the fourth. Shire then tied the game at two on a single by
Ashley Leicht.
The Wolverines took the lead back in the fifth and held on the for 4-2 win and the sweep.
Neumann (4-2, 2-2 Atlantic East) and Wesley will face-off again tomorrow afternoon for another doubleheader. First pitch is slated for 1:00 PM.
