Women's Lacrosse Heads to Gwynedd Mercy for First Round Matchup

4/23/2021 5:56:00 PM

ASTON, Pa. - After an up and down season, the Neumann University women's lacrosse team heads to Gwynedd Mercy University tomorrow evening for the opening round of the Atlantic East Conference playoffs.

The fifth-seeded Knights finished conference play in the regular season with a record of 2-4 and will take on the fourth-seeded Griffins, who come into the matchup with a 3-3 conference record.

Neumann has been led offensively all season by the duo of junior Brylin Adams and freshman Lindsey Fagan. Adams leads the team with 24 points on 15 goals and nine assists, while Fagan paced the team in goals with 18.

The Knights have also received excellent play from sisters Keri and Allison Mallon. Keri is third on the team in scoring with nine points on seven goals and two assists, while Allison leads the team in ground balls (19) and ranks third in draw controls (17).

Senior Nani Espada has led the team on the defensive end of the field, causing seven turnovers and picking up 13 ground balls in just three games played. Catriona Corrigan has also been stellar in goal, making 80 saves on the year with a 14.45 goals against average.

Neumann will be looking for revenge versus a Gwynedd Mercy team that defeated the Knights just last week in an 11-10 thriller. Adams led the Knights on the day with four goals, while Fagan and Keri Mallon each added three goals apiece.

Game-time for the first round contest is scheduled for Saturday night at 6:00 PM in Gwynedd Valley. The winner of the matchup will advance to the Atlantic East Conference semifinals scheduled for next Wednesday, April 28th at either Cabrini University or Marymount University.
