GWYNEDD VALLEY, Pa. – The Neumann University baseball team dropped an 11-2 decision to Gwynedd Mercy University on Thursday afternoon in an Atlantic East Conference contest.
Andrew Curran started the game and went 2.2 innings in the loss. He allowed five runs, four earned, n two hits.
Brennan Hatala pitched 3.1 innings out of the pen and allowed two runs on five hits.
Pat Leighton went the final 2.0 innings and allowed four runs on three hits.
The Knights book ended the Griffins scoring as Neumann plated the first run of the game in the top of the third.
Colin Pollard led off with a single and came around to scored on a single by
Zach Ray.
The Griffins answered right back and took a 5-1 lead after three. Gwynedd Mercy added two more in the fifth and four in the seventh for an 11-1 lead.
The Knights added their second run in the top of the ninth as
Ryan Lopez knocked in
Nick Glebocki on a sacrifice fly.
Neumann (7-12, 4-12 Atlantic East) and Gwynedd Mercy will meet again tomorrow for a doubleheader as the regular season finale. First pitch of game one is slated for 12:00 PM.
