Men’s Lacrosse Travels to Cabrini to Compete for Atlantic East Title

ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University men's lacrosse team, the No. 2 seed in the Atlantic East Conference postseason, will head cross-county to No. 1 seeded Cabrini University on Saturday, May 8 for a chance to claim the 2021 Atlantic East Men's Lacrosse Championship.
 
This is the first conference championship appearance for the Knights since 1999 when they were the runner up in the PAC. Face-off is slated for 1:00 PM.
 
The Knights are currently 6-3 overall and went 4-2 in conference action to claim the No. 2 seed. The Cavaliers are 9-2 overall and went 6-0 in the Atlantic East to be the No. 1 seed.

Drew Conlon leads the offense of Neumann with 30 goals and 20 assists for 50 points. Colin Blake is just behind Conlon with 44 points (24 goals, 20 assists). Jack Newswanger is the main face-off man and wins 63.7% of his face-offs. The senior also leads the Knights with 71 ground balls.
 
Brendan Risley has started all nine contests in net. Brett McLaughlin has caused 31 turnovers while picking up 45 ground balls. 
 
Neumann defeated Marymount 16-14 in the semifinals to advance to the championship. Conlon netted six points for the Knights in the win with three goals and three assists. McLaughlin tallied four goals and an assist. Wyatt Belotti added three goals and an assist while Chris Augustine notched two goals and an assist.  Newswanger picked up nine ground balls and won 19 faceoffs. Risley made seven saves in in net for the win.
 
During the regular season meeting between Neumann and Cabrini, the Cavaliers came away with a 23-3 win. Conlon had a hand in all three tallied with two goals and an assist. McLaughlin picked up a team-high six ground balls. Risley started the game in net and made two saves over 10 minutes. Jake Marchiafava made 11 saves in relief.
 
The winner will be crowned the 2021 Atlantic East Champion and will clinch the first AQ to the NCAA Tournament to represent the conference.
