A legendary mentor who is revered by hundreds of student-athletes, Coach Schuler first stepped foot on campus in 1982 when he was named the head women's basketball coach. He remained at the helm of the women's basketball program for 18 seasons.

While the women's basketball coach, Coach Schuler also became the Athletic Director in 1988, a position which he held until 2000. He was named the NAIA District 19 Administrator of the Year in 1991. In the mid 1990's, he helped Neumann transfer from the NAIA to the NCAA.

Coach Schuler led many of the sports teams during his tenure as a Knight. He was the baseball coach from 1991-2005, the softball coach in 1989 as well as from 2016-2019, and the cross country coach for two seasons (1989 and 1992). Each day working to serve another community member through his knowledge, kindness, and positive attitude" stated Chuck Sack, Director of Athletics and Recreation.

In 1999, Coach Schuler was named the Pennsylvania Athletic Conference (PAC) Baseball Coach of the Year as he led the team its first winning season with a 22-16 record. Neumann University's President, Dr. Chris Domes shared, "Len's impact on our community is deep.  He mentored many student-athletes and coaches.  As a father figure to many, his love for the student-athletes embraced the spirit of St. Francis in every way."

At the helm of the softball team, Coach Schuler led the Knights to three conference championships, including the first ever Atlantic East Championship in 2019.  On April 11, 2019, at Haverford College, Coach Schuler managed his 1,000th career game, amassing that total at the helm of women's basketball, baseball, and softball teams.

Coach Schuler was a member of the team that transformed Neumann's athletic facilities in recent years. On October 17, 2009, Neumann University opened the Mirenda Center for Sport, Spirituality and Character Development, the current home to the Neumann Knights. At the same time, the turf field was installed. During the 2011-12 academic year, Coach Schuler also played a part in the renovations of the Bruder baseball and softball fields.
