ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University women's soccer team blanked Cairn University 2-0 on Tuesday afternoon in non-conference action.
Emily Cooper and
Liz Purcell found the back of the net for the Knights.
Becca Spence and
Morghan Stiles tallied the assists.
Leona Macrina made two saves in net for her second straight shutout.
Neumann held the pace of the game throughout regulation. At the 23-minute mark of the first half, the Highlanders had a breakaway from outside the 18-yard marker, but Macrina came out and stuffed the shot close in and the score remained tied at zero.
In the 68
th minute, the Knights found the back of the net as Cooper scored off an assist from Spence. Purcell received a pass through the defenders from Stiles and tapped the ball past the Highlander goalkeeper for an insurance goal.
The Knights outshot the Highlanders 15-3 overall and 8-2 on net.
Neumann (2-1) will continue its homestand as it hosts Cedar Crest on Thursday afternoon. Action is slated to get underway at 4:00 PM.
