ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University women's volleyball team split on day two of the Knights Invitational. The Knights fell to Pitt-Bradford 3-0 before defeating Messiah 3-1.
Bre Hickey was named to the All-Tournament team.
In the first match against the Panthers, set scores were 25-17, 26-24 and 25-20.
Ariana Pena tallied nine kills.
Dani Smith handed out 15 assists. Hickey notched nine digs.
In the second set, the Knights held a 24-19 lead, but the Panthers came back to score seven straight points to win 26-24. Pitt-Bradford won the match with a 25-20 third set win.
Neumann then picked up a 3-1 win over Messiah. Hickey led the Knights with 12 kills, followed by Pena with 11.
Tori Burgess notched 12 digs while the Hickey sisters (Bre and Regan) each added 10. Smith dished out 24 assists and
Catie Esslinger added 17.
The Knights opened set one scoring 10 of the first 11 points. The Falcons tried to get back into the set, but Neumann took the first set 25-19. The Knights took a 2-0 lead with a 25-17 second set win.
The Falcons forced a fourth set with a 25-20 third set win. A Pena kill sealed the fourth set win 25-22 and a 3-1 match win for the Knights.
Neumann (5-7) will host the University of Scranton on Wednesday evening beginning at 7:00 PM.
