ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University women's soccer team dropped its 2021 season opener 1-0 to DeSales University on Thursday evening.
The Bulldogs netted the only goal in the 20
th minute on a free kick. DeSales held the pace of play, out shooting Neumann 30-3 overall and 25-3 on net.
Lee Macrina made her first start as a Knights and made 14 saves in net.
Morghan Stiles tallied two shots for the Knights while
Emily Cooper had the third for Neumann.
Around the 40
th minute, the Bulldogs had a chance in front of an almost empty Neumann net, Macrina and the defense won the scramble and cleared the ball to keep it a one goal game.
Neumann (0-1) heads on the road for the first time this season on Saturday when it travels to King's (Pa.) College. The game is slated to begin at 7:30 PM.
