ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University women's soccer team fell to Eastern University 1-0 in overtime in a battle on Tuesday afternoon.
The only goal came in the 94
th minute as the Eagles slipped the ball into the back of the net from just outside the 18.
Eastern held the pace for most of the game, but Neumann's defense was strong and held the line until overtime. The Eagles outshot the Knights 21-6 overall and 12-2 on net.
Leona Macrina made 11 saves in net, including a few point-blank shots deep in the zone.
The Knights best chance came just before the end of regulation when they had a shot blocked and was awarded a corner kick. Neumann generated a shot off the corner kick, but it went high.
Neumann (2-4) will hit the road for the first time this season as it heads to King's College on Thursday evening. Action is slated to get underway at 7:00 PM.
