ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University women's soccer team netted a late to goal to defeated Lancaster Bible 1-0 on Saturday afternoon.
The teams played a scoreless game until the 86
th minute when
Kaitlin Thomas headed in a corner kick from
Carissa Britton.
The teams had battled back and forth throughout the game, however neither team could break through to the scoreboard. The Knights outshot the Chargers 12-7 overall and 7-3 on net.
Leona Macrina made three saves in net for the shutout win.
Lexi Concklin and
Emily Cooper led the Knights with three shots each. Concklin had a shot on goal in the 75
th minute through traffic in front of the net, but the Chargers keeper was able to make the save.
As time was winding down in regulation, the Knights were awarded a corner kick. Britton when in bounded the ball. Within the mix of people in front of the net, Thomas headed the ball into the back of the net for the eventual game-winner.
Neumann (3-4) heads to Goucher on Tuesday for its first road contest of the season. Action is slated to get underway at 4:00 PM.
