LANCASTER, Pa. – The Neumann University field hockey team picked up a 5-1 win over Lancaster Bible College on Tuesday evening. The win was the first for first-year head coach
Erik Enters.
Gianna Guido netted her first two collegiate goals to lead the Knights.
Rachel Koerner tallied a goal and an assist.
Sydney Volpe handed out two assists.
Lexi Stouffer and
Bri Zuspann also each scored their first collegiate goals.
Megan Frame started the game in net for the Knights.
Ava Irwin played the second half in the cage. Neumann outshot Lancaster Bible 12-5 overall and 7-1 on net.
Stouffer opened the scoring with a goal on a penalty stroke in the third minute. Three minutes later, Koerner put the Knights up 2-0 off a pass from Volpe. Guido scored her first goal in the 21
st minute, off an assist from Volpe. Neumann took the 3-0 lead into halftime.
Guido scored her second goal of the game two minutes into the second half.
Haley Craft drew the assist. Zuspann notched her goal in the 41
st minute, off a pass from Koerner.
The Chargers spoiled the shutout bid just before the end of the third quarter. Neither team scored in the final quarter as the Knights came away with the 5-1 win.
Neumann (1-1) will head to Cedar Crest for its next game. The game has been postponed one day and will now be played on Thursday. Start time remains 7:00 PM.
