ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann men's soccer team defeated Gwynedd Mercy University 5-0 on Saturday afternoon in an Atlantic East Conference contest.
Seth Walker and
Matt Randall combined for the shutout. Walker did not need to make a save in the start. Randall made three saves in the second half. The Knights out 25 shots towards the net, 13 on target.
The Knights didn't waste any time, scoring in the first minute of the game.
Jake Kuzmick scored on a pass from
Jon Zubert for the early 1-0 lead. Not even two minutes later, Kuzmick scored his second goal of the game on a bullet of a shot from the 18.
Jason DiFilippo netted his first collegiate goal on a cross from Zubert in the seventh minute for a 3-0 Knights lead.
Zubert tallied his third assist of the game when
Javier Mejia scored in the 19
th minute. Neumann held the 4-0 lead at the break.
Chimdi Ekwem found the net in the 57
th minute off the first career assist of
Vince Landis to wrap up the scoring.
Neumann (5-6-1, 3-0 Atlantic East) will host Marymount University on Wednesday evening in a conference game beginning at 7:00 PM.
