GWYNEDD VALLEY, Pa. – The Neumann University women's soccer team blanked Gwynedd Mercy University 4-0 in Atlantic East Conference action on Saturday afternoon.
Leona Macrina started the game for Knights in the goal and played 68 minutes, making two saves.
Lex Navarro finished the last 21 minutes and made one save. The Knights had a total of 30 shots, 15 were directed towards the net.
Rebecca Spence and
Caitlin Llewellyn each had five.
The game remained scoreless until the 39th minute when
Kaitlin Thomas fought through the defense to find the back of the net. The Knights held the 1-0 lead at halftime.
In the 53rd minute,
Chloe Britton scored off a rebound for a 2-0 lead.
Anna Poehlmann drew the assist on the goal. Llewelyn added to Neumann's lead four minutes later for her first collegiate tally as she put the ball in the back of the net off a pass from
Liz Purcell. The Knights added an insurance goal in the 66th minute off the foot of
Emily Montague off the restart
Neumann (6-7-2, 3-1 Atlantic East) heads to St Mary's (Md.) to face-off in a non-conference game on Wednesday beginning at 7:00 PM.
