SCRANTON, Pa. – The Neumann University men's soccer team traveled to Marywood University and came home with a 6-1 Atlantic East Conference win on Saturday evening.
Gianni Smith scored three goals for the Knights while adding an assist.
Will Flores and
Nick Jones each tallied their first career goals.
Andres Velez,
Mohamed Bility and
Anthony Sciotto all notched their first collegiate assists.
Seth Walker started the game and played 71 minutes in the net. The senior made five saves.
Carson Metzger made two saves over the final 17 minutes. The Knights outshot the Pacers 16-14 in the game, 10-8 on net.
Neumann opened the scoring in the eighth minute as
Jon Zubert scored off an assist from Smith. Three minutes later, Smith scored his first goal off the first career assist from Velez. Smith scored another two goals over the next 13 minutes for a 4-0 Neumann lead.
Jake Kuzmick had the assist on the third goal of the game.
In the 72
nd minute, Flores netted his first goal of the first assist from Bility. The Pacers spoiled the shutout bid with a goal at the 80-minute mark. Jones sealed the win in the final minute of play with his first goal from Sciotto's first assist.
Neumann (6-7-1, 4-1 Atlantic East) will travel to Centenary University on Wednesday for its final regular season contest. Action is slated for 3:00PM.
