READING, Pa. – After trailing at the half by double-digits, the Neumann University Women's Basketball team ultimately fell to Albright College by a final score of 58-50 on Thursday evening.
Lauren Klieber continues her torrid start to the season with her fourth straight double-double, scoring 23 points while pulling down 13 rebounds.
Aubrie Breisblatt added seven points while
Hannah Asaka contributed six.
Although the Knights held an early one-point lead, the Lions raced away thanks to a 10-point run late in the first.
Terea Hunt scored the last three points of the quarter to bring Neumann back to with eight, 16-8.
The second started as a back-and-forth affair before the Knights started to chip away at the lead, pulling within five points on two occasions. In the last 2:34 of the half, Albright ended the half on an 8-0 fun for a 30-17 lead at the break.
After the break, Neumann came out of the locker room fired up and went on a nine-point run to pull within four, 30-26. Following a timeout, Albright scored 10 of the next 15 to pull ahead once again by double-digits. The Lions took a 40-30 advantage into the final 10 minutes.
The Knights pulled to within five, 55-50, with 1:54 left in regulation. Neither team could find the basket for the next 90 seconds. The Lions used three free throws in the final 26 seconds to seal the win.
Neumann (2-3) will try to get back to .500 as it opens the home portion of the schedule against cross-county rivals Widener University on Tuesday. The opening tip is scheduled for 6:00 PM.
