ARLINGTON, Va. – The Neumann University women's volleyball season came to an end in the Atlantic East Conference semifinals, falling 3-0 at Marymount University on Thursday evening.
Lauren Garvey and Regan Hickey each had eight kills. Dani Smith handed out 24 assists. Claudia Bournazel tallied 13 digs and Smith added nine.
In set one, the teams opened by going back and forth. With the scored tied at 12, five straight points for a 17-12 advantage. Leading 20-17, Marymount rattled off five points for a 25-17 set one win.
The Knights jumped out to an early 10-2 lead in the second set. With Neumann leading 16-12, Marymount was able to score five points to take a 17-16 edge. The teams then traded points down the stretch and were knotted at 22. A kill and an attack error put the Saints at set point, 24-22. Jules Dill responded with a kill for a 24-23 score. Marymount answered with a kill to take set two 25-23.
Tied at three in set three, Marymount scored seven straight points and went on to win the set 25-9 and take the match 3-0.
Neumann finishes 2022 12-19 overall.
