LANCASTER, Pa. – The Neumann University men's basketball team fell short 63-59 at Lancaster Bible College on Wednesday evening.
Jalen Vaughns notched a double-double for the Knights with 24 points and 16 rebounds.
Tony James tallied 12 points and seven rebounds.
Justin Smith grabbed nine rebounds.
The first half remained close with seven lead changes and four tied scores over the first 16 minutes. A Charger basket with 3:53 on the clock put them up 27-26 and started a 10-4 run to end the half. Lancaster Bible took a 36-30 lead into the break.
Lancaster Bible scored the first six points of the second half. The Knights chipped their way back in and a layup by
Ryan Starr tied the game at 46 with 13:15 left on the clock. This set up six more lead changes and four tied score over the next 10 minutes when the teams were knotted at 58 with 2:54 left in regulation.
A Charger jumper with 1:21 on the clock put them back into the lead. A free throw by Vaughns cut the lead in half but Lancaster Bible went 3-for-4 from the line in the final 23 seconds to hang on for the 63-59 win.
Neumann (5-3) will play at home for the first time this season on Saturday when it welcomes Salisbury University. Tip-off is slated at 2:00 PM.
