GLENSIDE, Pa. – The Neumann University women's basketball team dropped a 58-47 decision at Arcadia University on Tuesday night in the 2022-23 season opener.

Lauren Klieber led the Knights with 29 points and made 12 free throws. The sophomore also grabbed eight rebounds. Aubrie Breisblatt pulled down nine rebounds.

Klieber opened the game with a three-pointer and a layup for a 5-0 Neumann lead. Arcadia hit a three just before the end of the first quarter and Neumann held a 13-12 edge after 10 minutes.

Arcadia opened the second quarter with a three-pointer to take its first lead of the game. Neumann was held scoreless until Jaqueline Wardrop hit a jumper with 15 seconds left before halftime. Arcadia took a 25-15 lead at the break.

Midway through the third quarter, two free throws by Hannah Asaka pulled the Knights to within four, 28-24. Arcadia answered with two three-points to extend its lead back to 10. Two free throws by Klieber made the score 34-29 with 3:06 on the clock. Arcadia ended the half on a 13-4 run to take a 47-33 lead into the final 10 minutes.

The Knights could not break the double-digit deficit throughout the final quarter. Klieber wrapped up the scoring for the game with two free-throws in the final minute and the 58-47 final.

Neumann (0-1) heads to Goucher on Friday to participate in the Renie Amoss Tip-off. The Knights will face the Gophers beginning at 5:30 PM.
